I just purchased a 94 eliminator daytona 21ft as a bare hull. I would like to talk to some other owners of similar boats and see how you guys powered them and what kind of performance your getting.

I had stock package and a Dominator jet, with a Place diverter. Fun, fun boat.

You might want to consider a bracketed outboard. With a Merc 225 Promax, 2.5 280EFI, or a 300x, you would have a screamer of a boat with a lot of room in the interior. Wonderful boat, however you decide to power it. Just my $.02.

I had an 89 21' daytona with a Johnson 300 for many years.... It was a great boat, the only thing that kinda sucks is the freeboard...get the splash guard for it....well worth the money spent for peace of mind

I've got an older 21 Daytona Jet 468 Berk. I've seen what one of these boats can do with a 325 lb out board hanging off the back.....and theres much more room in the Boat to be had. Sorry fellow Big Block Guys.

HD...I agree with you that the Promax 225 is a little short on horsepower for the hull, although it would probably run with a stock BBC jet or sterndrive. But if price is a concern, or you don't need to be as fast as a 300x, with the 225, you have oil injection, and reliable power. Just a thought.

What kind of cash would a 300x cost these days. Then you have to rig it.... the hardware could get expensive, but I bet it would fly...

I believe the difference in "list price" between the 225 ProMax and 300x is more than $4,000.00. Don't know what deals are available out there though.
