Sean...don't let these guys rattle your cage, they're just a bunch of troublemakers.
Looking good. You're going to ahve a real nice engine when you're done. Take your time, and remember...there's never a stupid question, it's stupid not to ask.

    NF,
He is running a hyd profile and solild roller lifters with a mild lash setting. It will be wickedly quick on throttle response.
Shaun, the build looks good. Good to see you taking your time and asking questions.

    Shaun,
What is your opinion of the measuring tools you bought from Summit?
As long as you don't mind, I would sure like to see these guys comments on the board - I've got a lot to learn.
I'm thinking of putting my engine back together myself. I've always had it done by the guy that does the machining, since I didn't have the tools and it was only a couple hundred bucks for him to assemble the short block. Maybe it's time for me to buy the tools and give it a try.

What are the advantages to this? wicked quick throttle response, but can the pump handle it??? not taking a shot at you or your build shaun, just trying to learn a few things.Looks great so far. Are you going to dyno it?

    NF,
    Advantages are:
Don't have to run aggressive spring pressure, seat# somewhere around 160# works great since the rams are not as aggressive on a hyd roller.
More stable power in the higher rpm range which in the case of a jet or a V is nice.
In some cases the solid roller lifters are cheaper.
    Disadvantages:
More maintenance as the valves need to be run at least once a year.
    Must have an adjustable valvetrain.
Your Morels are the best hyd. made so you are in good shape and we did discuss that option when Shaun was collecting parts.

When i was originally talking with chris on designing a cam i couldnt make up my mind if i wanted to go hyd or solid. Chris gave me this option and said it was best of both worlds... so i decided to do that.
