I don't think it's a chip...it's more like a conversion "box". I heard that they are about $100.
I have the factory XM in my 06 Chevy but want to get Sirius instead. A friend of mine said there is a chip than can be swapped out in the radio to change it from XM to Sirius. Anybody know if there is any truth to this. I would rather not have to get an external Sirius receiver.

Thanks Justin
I saw them at circut city...SIR-GM1 is the part. If interested,
I also know of a guy who makes an adapter cable to use the stock
xm antenna instead of the supplied Sirius magnetic antenna
I wouldnt worry about it. Sirrius is buying out XM and it will be one in the same within a yr....
you can have my XM if ya want it,its in 12' of water at STATELINE RAMP,LAKE POWELL  i kicked it off the back of the boat the other day
Doh, you're not supposed to do that Mark...
I just had the SIR-GM1 put in my Avalanche using the stock radio. Works like a charm. I got mine at Circuit City.
Will this setup work if you have the factory XM radio installed? I have an 06 vette and HATE XM! Would love to swap over to sirius.
