With the 2006 Season wrapped up in Region 12, congratulations are in order to the following teams that clinched their APBA National, APBA Hi-Point, Series and SCSC Club Championships!
The Return of K Racing Runabouts were a huge success and congratulations are in order to driver Tony Scarlata, Suisun City, CA and owner Craig Kinnaman, Big Sky, Montana of the K-5 "The Traffic Cone" Race team on capturing their first APBA Hi-Point National Championship. Congratulations on their IHBA Championship in the KRR class, their Top Alcohol Flat Record and Top Alcohol Flat IHBA Series Championship! What a true accomplishment to win in both ABPA and IHBA!
Congratulations to the dynamic duo of owner Dave Rankin, Hacienda Heights, CA and flat bottom driver extroidinaire Dave Bryant, Mesa, AZ who went 12 for 12 on their way to capturing both the APBA National and Hi-Point Championship in the Super Stock class and the SSRA Series Championship, 2nd Place in the APBA Western Divisional Championship. Also, look to upcoming Devil's Lake Kilo's where the SS80 will be looking to shatter the Super Stock straightaway record and KRR Record.
In the Pro Stock Class it was again Dave Bryant driving for Dave Rankin in PS80 earning an APBA National Championship, APBA Hi-Point Championship, APBA Western Divisional Championship and 2nd overall in the Western Pro Stock Racing Association Series. Quite a list of accomplishments for the Rankin/Bryant Team that were seemingly unstoppable in 2006! The best is saved for last as Dave Bryant is also up for an APBA Hall of Champions which is a tremendous honor where only the best of the best are inducted each year!
Congratulations to Dave, Dave, John Avery, and the entire Rankin Team on their hard work and effort it truly paid off!
Jeff "The Rocket" Wooton in PS 346, Pasadena, CA captured the Western Pro-Stock Racing Association 2006 Series Championship in a tight points battle that in the end was decided by 10 points. Great Job to Jeff, Huey and the entire Wooton Racing Crew! Next years "World Championship at Long Beach Marine Stadium is going to be unbelievable!
The Crackerbox class saw a new record set as the P74 of Steve Tustison and Jeff Hansen, San Juan Capistrano went 3 for 3 as they made history at, where else, famed Long Beach Marine Stadium in August by capturing the Summer National Championship 3 years running! Tustison driving the "Hot Wire" flyer was seemingly out of the water more than in it down the straights and kept her steady and on the gas around the turns! In addition the P 74 Team captured the Crackerbox Series Championship by winning the APBA Western Divisionals at Parker in April in one of the best come from behind victory boat race seen in many years, and the historic Burley, ID Regatta!
The Grand National Class and GNRA Series saw the "Plan B" GN 305 Team of veteran legendary driver and motor builder, Paul Grichar, West Covina, CA and owner, Ben Marrone, Arcadia, CA sweep the GNRA Series en route to an APBA Hi-Point Championship and yet another induction for the legendary "one armed bandit" Grichar into the APBA Hall of Champions. Also, up for the "Plan B" Team will see if they can repeat as "Kings of the River" in the Bluewater Resort & Casino '300' Enduro set for October 21, 2006.
The Grand National Class saw the Yellow GN #9, driven by Dave Rankin, Hacienda Heights of famed driver and boat builder Rudy Ramos take the ABPA National Championship race at Long Beach Marine Stadium. In the last event before his passing, Rudy Ramos went out at the top of his game in the sport he loved dearly! We will miss him and hopefully one day, the Yellow #9 will return to the race course where it belongs!
Once again, SCSC is proud to be the "Club of Champions" and with all the great competition on the water in 2006 we know that boat racing in Region 12 is growing by leaps and bounds and we look forward to a great 2007!
Congratulations to all participants and we'll see you at the SCSC awards banquet at the Bluewater Resort & Casino at the 60th Annual Thanksgiving Regatta on November 24 & 25, 2006!
    Ross Wallach, SCSC/GNRA/RPM RACING ENT.

Ross - Thanks for arranging a great season.... All those champions you paid homage to are most deserving for their commitment to the sport, and are inspirations to others.
