Are they trying to torture poor Larry Smith???
The first super high end boat I ever saw up close was summer of '90 at LOTO. It was a 38 or 40something foot Scarab - pure white. Entire gelcoat, rub rail, hand rails, all the trim, guages, seats, etc. were white. Had triple BBCs and a presence like no other in Party Cove. It was amazing how a boat devoid of all colors gathered so much attention!
Now they are rainbow-brite theme....just not right...

I looked into building one when the molds were still at Finco Fabrication. Finco built the recent 43's, including the 48 (43 with a bustle fr the Buzzi surface drives) that recently set the diesel powered speed record from San Francisco to Los Angeles a couple of years ago.
I did not for a few reasons, most of which won't apply to most buyers:
    1) Simply too little interior headroom. Probably 5'2". The Nordic 42 supposedly has 5'10" or maybe even 6'. If I'm building that big a boat, I want to stand up below. For sure, I don't want to crawl around.
    2) The steps are too far apart. Like on a Cigarette. Therefore, may be similarly dangerous in high speed turns.
    3) The V up forward is too shallow for really rough water. I think it will pound, but people who have ridden in the boat disagree with me. I'd just rather have a sharper entry V.
I really think its one of the better looking hull and decks, however, and have frequently been tempted by the 43 and 48 Scarabs out there. The headroom has always stopped the buy impulse.
