Big Red is no longer in Laughlin. RJ Gottlieb and his dad took it back and campaigned it in the Z-2-Z (0-200-0) event last year, and this year. Neither time were they able to hit 200 in the mile.
    copy that....

Second place first time out is impressive. You did not comment on the road contitions this year.
funny that you ask that because when we got to the finish line the first person we saw stuck a microphone into our car and asked us "how was the drive" this was our first time at this event so i don't know what the road conditions were like in previous years. but to me the road conditions were absolutely perfect. our class was the first class out on the road in the morning. and when we took off the air temp was around 40 degrees. my car is setup for short track road racing and so it handles much better in the turns than it does in the straights. my suspension is pretty stiff and at this speed i could feel a few bumps in the road and my front tires are so wide that they were having a little trouble keeping the car in the middle of the road in the straights. but other than that everything was smooth sailin. i blasted thru the narrows at 130 mph. all the other turns on the course i pretty much took at 150 mph. i averaged 160 mph for the first 70 miles of the course and once i hit the narrows i cut my speed back until i got to the finish line when i crossed that at 150 mph.
i did the bonneville 100 a few months before this event and that road was not as in good of condition as the silver state. during the bonneville 100 i hit two birds at a speed of 130 mph. surprisingly the car sustained no damage. there was road kill everywhere at that event. i was started further back in the pack at that event though. i did not see one road kill during my 90 mile silver state trek. since my car only has a roll bar in it and not a full roll cage, etc they will not let me run in the faster classes. but the way my car sits right now i could take this course at 160 mph average speed if they would let me. my engine is currently making about 625 hp. i have maxed out my speedo at 200 mph before (my GPS recorded a max speed of 198 mph). with some more power and aerodynamic mods such as a wing, splitters, and a modified air dam i could take this course at an average speed of 180 mph. the track record is a mind blowing 207 mph average speed set in a nascar type car.

I don't see a bimini in the pic of your viper, how were you able to maintain these speeds?
