sorta depends how many motors you plan on rebuilding----if just the one present, a file will get it done nicely----take the $50 and buy beer!!!
Are these worth the 50 bucks? My book just shows a guy with a file mounted in a vice...

Be careful filing that you do not knock the moly out of the ring edge. Probably best to buy the tool unless someone shows you how to file.
I use this $40 one works pretty good, but if you're gonna use a plain ole file, better know what you're doing if you're using moly rings!..

sorry, wasn't thinking----old age, beer factor!!!

If it makes the diffrence i'm willing to spend the 50 bucks and it sounds like i should. I just was asking because if it's not going to do me any better or make it any easier than using a standard file why buy it
