Hey Superlite,
Is that boat the Green Dragon?
Marc
No thats not the Green Dragon. If I remember right ( the pic wasn't marked ), I think my dad said that it's one of Don Dues later rides. I do remember the Green Dragon boat though. Saw it flip at Lake Samamish in the 70's. I seem to remember it being white with a dragon going down the sides.

I believe this is the same guy as the first pic posted. This was a pretty wild design, almost like a bat boat. In fact someone built a similar one later and called the Bat Boat. As you can see by the caption, the first one came to a tragic end. Anybody remember this one?
72 superlite, Keep posting, I love this stuff! Great thread!
Holy shit...we never got the full story on Chuck's accident. He was my dad's best friend. He a call about 2am one night from another friend saying he had heard on the radio that he was killed. Said he broke the motor, prop locked and boat crashed. It was his first ride/run in blown fuel. Dad was crushed and pale for days afterwards. Chuck was a character and as a teenager I idolized him (Mom wasn't to happy about that). Thanks for the pic, will print this thread and pass it on to my folks. What was the date on the article?
Glad you guys are enjoying these. The date of the above clipping should be about 6/7/70. I have another small clipping that I will post later, about the same crash.
SUPERLITE,
I WAS AT THAT RACE AND SAW THE CRASH, IT WAS NASTY, THE TAIL HOPPED AND IT NOSED UNDER AND DESINAGERATED.
VERY GOOD PICTURES KEEP IT UP.
