I know. I just went with the way the contractors had started it. They were required to have the man door fire walled. This is how they did it...

Never post pictures of you doing something the wrong way. Drywall horizontal from top to bottom.

I'm just messing with ya but that is technically the wrong way
and if that is a fire wall its not right ether it needs to be taped to complete the assembly

I did the drywall in my garage at home and did it the right way. Really about the fire wall? Is that standard or maybe a CA code? I know the inspector was out and had them change a few things before he ok'd everything.
You know these guys will eat you alive.
Lesson learned

well in Cali you need a one hr wall between the garage and living aria
and for it to be one hr it needs to be taped and the nails covered with mud
if its a type 5 building or depending on the city and use all the wals are to be sheet rocked to maintain a 1hour rating, witch is obtainable by having one layer of 5/8ths drywall on one side and it must be fire taped as well , and no screws are to pennertrate the skin of the rock as well
