DZ and MO were the Z28 302's and were available with the single four and the optional crossram intakes. Headers came in the trunk and the chambered exhaust was cool sounding also.

There should/could be another series of numbers on the block pad. Those numbers aren't long enough, and I think the letter designations follow the engine ID number, the last 4 digits of that number match the VIN of the vehicle it was installed in, ie: matching number, original car/engine.....(The numbers you've posted look like the same type as the numbers you see on a BBC right above the T/C mounting surface, on a horizonal pad). Those are not the engine ID numbers..........MP

I'll ask him to look for some more #'s. Remember this motor was bought from chevrolet. So it was never assigned a VIN #

1967 302 used the same block as the 327 and a 283 small journal crankshaft. Engine had 2 bolt main bearing caps from the factory Casting numbers were either 3892657 or 3903352
1968 302 used the same block as a 327 and 350 and a shorter stroke large journal crankshaft. Engine had 2 bolt main bearing caps in 1968 Casting Number should be 3914678
1969 302 used the same block as a 327 and 350 and a shorter stroke large journal crankshaft. Engine had 4 bolt main bearing caps in 1969 Casting Number should be 3932386
probly more than you wanted or needed to know..........
I'll put that in the trivia file...
My mistake on them only being made for one year. That's what a couple "Camaro" guys have told me. Wasn't the 302 built to satisfy a santioning body?? 5.0 L was the largest displacemant allowed??

Yes, 302 was for the trans am series. 327 block and 283 crank seemed to fit well at the time. factory rated at 290 hp they were a dog until you put some gears in the rear.

Big bore-short stroke. Lazy on the bottom.
I remember reading a book a long time ago that the 302 was a special motor, that the 327 block 283 crank worked out as far as cubic inches went, but it really wasn't the same thing.

"CE" suffix means factory replacement block.
I had a 67 z28 with the "mo" block.Just sold it back to the original owners son.Had the original build sheet for it tooooooo.

Here is another thing to do. If you find a 67 350 block its designation code is MU,,,,then just close the top for a MO! Veola, a 1967 numbers match. Now the over the counter blocks did not have these since the plant did not know what car model they went into. However, a date of manufacture is near the bellhousing flange where the cast number is, usually on the other side. This may or may not help, but it is easy to check if someone says its a number matching block sold over the counter. I had two 1967 Z28s at one time and learned quite a lot, wish I had them back! One was a black Ralley Sport with 31000 miles! Tachometers also had a higher red line of 6500rpm but it would pull, in gear, to 7200 and that was around 121mph!
