    Mead is fermented honey. Beer is fermented grain (barley). Some meads can get up to 25% alcohol where the strongest beers top out around 10%.
    I like the Paulaner hefeweizen and Oktoberfest. The Weihenstephan hefe is good too.
    One of my favorites is the 3 Floyds brewery in Indiana. www.threefloyds.com It's hard to get here though.

    I know what you mean, I have had some mead that actually made my eyes water.
