BlackMax good.
I'm looking into buying a 1992 Mercury Black Max 150HP. Any problem areas I need to check for? Any suggestions/advice/etc? Also, I need some info on the motor.... specs, size, etc. Thanks
BlackMax good.
Like Tom says, they're good. How good depends on what they are asking for it. 200 percent better than a chizzler.
BlackMax good.
Haha..thanks for the info Tom! And it might not be a Black Max I found out... I know that it's an early/mid 90's Merc 200 Horse. Asking price will be about $1500, hopefully less. I think it's got EFI, I'm told it's a 2-stroke.
Black Max is an older name for the v-6's. Don't worry if it doesn't say it on the cowling. If it will fire up and run and if it passes a compression test grab dat biotch. Cyls should be within 15 percent of each other. Stock comp is around 120-130. That should be a good motor.
Looks like I'll be the proud new owner of a 200 HP Merc if everything goes to plan... AAAAAAAAH it's killing me. Details (and possibly pics) to come soon.
Found out it's a 1995 200 HP. It's been in salt water, but for the price ($1000), I can't resist.

Looks like a 25" motor to me. What are you going to put it on?

The 1973 Tahiti in my sig. Can you say jackplate?

Can you say, "still too low?"
Here's a side shot of my 90 Merc with 20" mid section on my 16' Glastron. Note the jack plate is right at the top. This was before I got some new engine side pieces for the RapidJack to go another two inches higher.
With a 25" mid, I'd probably lose 10+ mph, although I'm pretty sure it would generally work.
I would way rather go the other way, with a 15" mid, but I'm too poor to fly in that crowd.
