I know lots of people that like the QuickFuel carbs. They use some ProForm stuff, and billet plates.
I have heard of inconsistancies of the ProForms in years gone past, but mostly good stuff recently. I know lots of people that love them for their features and low cost.
Holley HP series is always a good standard.
And Demon has won the engine master challenge just about every time.
It is much more in the set-up and getting everything right than the manufacturer. And if you are looking for every little horsepower, anyone you send it to will tweak the thing, no matter which brand you get. The pickier you are in what you want it to do, the more you need to dial it in, or have someone do it for you. It is in the testing and the knowhow. If you are looking at every available horsepower at every throttle position, etc. You may want to look for someone who is a carb genius like a Bob Book, er someone like that.
And whatever you do, avoid carbs that have been at the bottom of a lake for seasons and seasons.
