I am looking at some 'offshore' boats...Baja, Scarab etc and want to stick to v-bottom and single I/O in the used market... and i am curious if you all can help steer me in the right direction (mfrs.), and what to look out for (problems). I am looking in the 25'-29' range...any and all help would be great. Thanks, Brook.

Baja wouldn't be my first choice. Not knocking them, but I would look at a few others first.
Some good 27-29 foot boats that I would be looking at:
    Hallett 270
Magic 29 Wizard (my first boat and it was great, find 2001 or newer)
    Ultra 28
    Shockwave 29
    Lavey 2750
    Formula 272 Fastech
    That should get you started.
With the 2 you listed, I would look at the Formula or Hallett first. Should be a good number of Formulas to choose from on the used market.

I know this is a little bigger, but a Sonic 31SS with twins is a great offshore boat.

    Thanks.
Knowing the budget would help a lot. Also, where do you plan on using the boat? If in the ocean, finding a boat with a galvanized or aluminum trailer would be a bonus as well.

I LOVE the Howard 28 bullett...just an awesome, beautiful boat, and he does great work......there is one for sale here on the board, (that I know of) but I gotta point it out to you, it is exceptional.....take a look......
[url]http://OOPS! They don't want us linking to threads from other forums on here, so go to the spam section, and look for the 28 howard for sale post..you'll be glad you did....
    Hope you like it....
