I'm impressed by the HP number at that low RPM. Our 502's spin to 6800...bigger bore yada yada
I just wanted to post this over here as well for all that don't look in the Jet section. I just put this together its a 496 with all forged internals by eagle 4.25 lightened crank 6.385 H beam rods with L-19 bolts, JE 4.310 forged pistons 10.2-1 compression. AFR 325 heads stock as cast 2.30 intakes and 1.88 exhaust valves.
Cam is a custom one designed by Chris Straub of Straub technology
(cstraub69 on the boards) all I will say about the cam is its 689 lift. I have morell solid roller lifters and crain rockers. Victor tr-2 tunnel ram with 2 600's

so all in all its a 496 that makes 710 hp @ 6100 and 662.3 ft/tq @5100 all on 91 octane pump gas

its all in the cam
I've always felt tunnel rams are underated, especially with good heads. Probably because the carbs don't usually get tuned well and/or incorrect tunnel ram get's used for the application.
Would be interesting what would happen with larger carbs.
Have fun with it - sounds like it should be fun.
