Thread: Floor replacement Q's

I need to replace the main floor in my 1979 18SS. I'm not sure if it will require a full R&R of the floor or just a small area between the front seats and a medium area under the rear seat.
The white boxes are areas that need some work:

Is it better to replace the whole floor even if only a small section needs work?
I've been told not to replace stringers on the trailer, but can the floor be replaced on the trailer without distortion to the bottom of the hull?
What flooring material should be used, marine plywood or can one use treated plywood?
What thickness of flooring was used by Sidewinder initially?
What's the best resin and mat to use to cover the wood when replaced?
Anyone know of a source for dark orange (technically "Burnt Umber") carpeting?
I really don't want to go to cream or brown carpeting when the floor goes in, but so far that's the only colors I can find to match my SS. Cream carpet would be to much light color and brown would get hot to the feet. The orange was a good middle of the road color.
    My SS:

Any help in this endeavor would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bones

You can patch it or replace it..Personally, It's easier to replace it all as to patch it...Cut around the edges of the plywood (thru the glass only)... and Gently pry it out..Sand/grind the edges of the glass..Cut & replace the wood & reglass..
Use 3/4" or 5/8" CDX plywood... glass with two layers of mat & one layer of cloth & any polyester resin is fine for what you got going..good luck
