Does anybody know the cam spec. on the 496HO? I have a Crane cam that is their equal to the 496 HO, but I would like to confirm. I'm upgrading my Mag to a HO.

I know the lift comes out to .510 at the valve. This is per the merc manual. It doesn't list the duration, though.

That's all I was able to find in the manual too.

Check the 4/7 swap on the Crane

I'll have to look, but I don't think that applies to Gen-VIIs. Plus, one would have to reprogram the DIS so that the coils fired in a new order.
I just looked in the manual and the firing order is 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3

Let us know how this upgrade works out for you .... lot of 496 mags out
here that need more power

The OE 496 has the 'firing order swap' already. In fact, I believe you can use the 496 type cams in the GEn VI 454/502's to change their firing order. Crane talks about this in their newsletters and etc.
