Thread: HELP!! Boat backfired, now idles real high

    Boat backfired, now it idles real high. Check out my thread in blower motors about my problem...thanks

    Replace the power valve.

    Heres the answer mine did the same thing once I blew one of the vacume caps off the carbs and created a vacume leak tell me if Im wrong
    Hope this helps

    Check the gasket on your backfire valve on the manifold. You probably have a vacuum leak there.
    A backfire wouldn't reach the throttle butterflies or anything else on the carbs with a blower, except the power valve, and only then if you're boost referenced.

    If it's Holley probably the power valve they make a fix for this for the older carbs new ones already have it. just my 2cents How did I miss the blower? nevermind
