A friend of mine has a Sidewinder that he is fixing up for his daughter & wants to be able to tell her as much as he can about the boat when he gives it to her. (When it was made, what number boat it was, etc...) I tried running it through the MIC database, but all it comes back with is some info about Sidewinder itself.....I believe the info he is interested in can be found in the HIN, but don't know how to "decipher" it.
The HIN# is SWM1354A0773.
Thanks guys.
The only thing you can tell from the HIN is who made it. (The MIC, first 3 letters - SWM) and the month/year it was certified as complying with Federal Manufacturer Standards. (last 4 numbers, 0773 - July, 1973)
The 5 digits in between (1354A) are a serial number assigned by the manufacturer. They may or may not have any significance, depending on whether the maker just used random or sequential numbers, or if they may have put coded info there.
