Sounds like somethings outta wack...weather it be outdrive gear ratio or prop or???
My 496 HO hits the rev limiter at 5450..w 26p and 1.50's w/5200lbs of weight.
I have A Playcraft 2700 Extreme with a 496 Mag HO and I can only turn 4600 RPM at WOT. I have a Bravo 111 X and run a 24 pitch prop. Do these #'s sound right?

Playcraft recomends a 24p prop. I have a 1.81 gear ratio on the drive. I was wondering if the Bravo111 cause a loss of a couple of hundred RPM. I thought the HO hit the rev limiter at 5200. If I go to a 22p am I going to lose top end?

Outdrives "rob" a small % of hp. Not RPM
Spec's say 5400-5500 depending on which manuals you read..
Before I put a Whipple on PCM was set at 5500 RPM, after whipple install, I am getting a max 5450 RPM
Here is a guide from Mercury to help..

What does Playcraft say, they should be the ones in the know..
My suggustion, find a "good" (one you can trust) outdrive/ prop guy and work from there....
You're giving up alot for that B-III. You are dragging two props and a bigger torpedo through the water. Plus, it takes a bit more HP to drive the gear drive (counter-rotating assembly) and the other prop - as compared to a single-prop drive.
The numbers sound about right for what you have. My 30-footer (twin-step) has the HO with B-1. I spin a 24P 4-blade right at 4900 and 62 mph.
