I am helping a friend put together a jet boat witha 460 ford in it. He is on a tight budget and wants to run the alternator that he has and not buy a new 1 wire gm style. The alternator has an external voltage regulator with a yellow wire coming off of it. what do i hook that wire to? thanks

I just went through the same thing. Tell your friend that he can get the single wire GM alternator from Autozone for $55.99. Well worth the investment. If you want the part number just let me know.
