I have fiberglass swim steps with some really light texture in them. They are still really slippery. No, I dont wax them. Is there any kind of wax that leaves a little bit of a tacky (or at least less slippery) surface. Any other solutions?

I had the same problem. I tried Hydroturf, but couldn't get it cut clean enough, or stuck good enough to make me happy. It just didn't look professional. I also tried grip tape, but it snagged and messed up girls bathing suits.
So, the final thing I went with was step plates from Dana Marine. They provided a non slip furface while walking, and when you sat on the swim step they stopped you from sliding off when the boat was beached and the steps were on an angle.
They weren't a cheap fix, but it was a safety issue so justifying the cost was worth it before someone got hurt. They come in various sizes and shapes, and they can be powdercoated in many different colors.

I use it for my transom but it won't keep your steps from being slippery. Great cleaner for the 496 soot though.
