Good move...Now I can look at the pics without the Drama ruining them..... smile_sp
Ok, IÂ’m splitting the original thread up into two.
This thread is for John Miller and his two sons Garrett and Ryan's restoration of a Miller flatbottom. I hope they will continue to show their progress here.
To everyone else, feel free to make comments and ask questions. But IÂ’ll tell you now that any off topic posts here will get deleted. LetÂ’s keep this thread about this boat. There is another thread with all kinds of Miller pics and history. Any Miller subjects not related to this boat goes there.
Thanks in advance for everyoneÂ’s support.

18 foot Miller flatbottom being restored by John Miller.
This is the exact same hull design that dominated both blown gas, and unblown gas during the 60's. Setting world records in both. Blown gas was set at 128 mph running in the 7's. A very respectable speed considering the lack of horsepower compared to today.
Dave Miller started Miller boats in 1952. Dave worked in wind tunnel department for Northrop. He was involved with building the fastest experimental aircraft Before starting Miller boats. One of the famous planes he had his hands on building was the flying wing. He took his knowledge learned there and revolutionized boat design.
Who is John Miller?
He is Dave's son. Dave taught both John and Jim how to build and design boat's. John Miller began building Miller's in 1963. Some were entirely out of wood!
John has just started on the restoration. This boat will not be cheap. The plans are to restore one of the most beautiful and efficient flatbottoms ever offered. If you have a serious interest you may send me an email. I am John's son. You may email me at ryanjohn10@yahoo.com
p.s. It's going to have a beautiful raised wood deck. This boat will win shows!

My 2 sons are very excited about us working on restoring this 1966 18' Miller flatbottom they found. The boat was stripped of all hardware when we got it. The hull is in good condition, but we will cut the deck off and put a new wood deck similiar to what we made in the late 60's.

Amazing (the process), looks like you guys have been making some good progress. How in the world do you get the wood to cooperate when forming the cockpit bubble?
