You can do what you want, and all I can give you is my opinion. If it were me, I wouldn't put 1,000 horsepower in an old Sanger true flat and try to make a serious race boat out of it. I would, however, have fun with it at the lake!
I agree with adjones419, those hulls can be a handfull especially with that kind of hp.
I'd get the boat to the century mark then stop. 100 mph is pefect for a lake boat, especially one as good looking as that Sanger. Now getting it to stop hopping under power is going to be another task all together.
I had my other flat up to about 100-106 on the gps. It was a 74 bubble sanger 468 full roller and some head work. I first tried out the 3 blade the boat just hopped...switched over to the tom black 11 1/2 x 14 and the boat set and ran very good...I am looking to get about 120-125mph out of it...I sold my old flat to a guy in vacaville and never saw it again. The guy who bought it said he was up there all the time and I am there every two weeks and have never seen him. Anyone ever see my old flat??? Her are a few pics

Sorry for the new-be question but what's the difference between a runner bottom and a true flatbottom?
Any pics to help me understand?

Keep in mind that my brain only works in 1/4 mile increments, but I think you're going to have your hands full if you want to hit 125mph.

I have a buddy that has the same hull as me same year and all. At one time it was a blown alky named firewater. Same set up as me pretty much. That boat wen't well over 100mph and the driver never got wet....??? we'll see I guess..
