    What silicone product???
I've tried 2 times to seal the transom plate to my fully setback pump.
I've tried the 3m white stuff that takes a week to cure. (I forget the number). And I recently used a product that can be applied under water. I applied it dry, but figured it would be great stuff.
Unfortunately, I have a pretty good leak again.
It appears the silicone pulls away from the transom plate allowing water to get through. I'm guessing this is caused by vibration.
What is the best stuff to seal the 1/8 inch gap all the around the pump and what is the best way to prep and apply.
    Thanks,
    J

I used some stuff from rex for this, called boatlife. Its really nice stuff. Has very good elasticity. Sounds like it would work good in your application. Take your time with those plates. I put one application on, and then a day later took a haolgen light and pointed it at the transom and looked at the plates from the inside to see if any of the light was getting through. There were some spots and I was able to fix them up before I put the boat in the water.

Boatlife and 3M both make good marine products. Don't use the bathroom type product you'd find at the hardware store.

Being in the jetski industry, I have found a product by Mr. Gasket called the right stuff. It works incredible. I use it to seal the jet pumps otherwise they cavitate. Mike
