Well I think the jet deal is done, not enough boats anymore, but I thought the flats and endurance would be there.......The jet deal is kinda like, "be careful what you wish for".........and then you get it.........too bad...MP
PS Prior to the flaming, let me just say that the ONLY reason there WAS a nostaligia jet class is because of the stupid dedication and refuse to "let it die" attitude of Jim Rich. I really doubt anyone else will have that staying power to continue the push for the class. You guys have really stepped on your dicks on this one. Enjoy Ming IF you get a class, cause that will probably be the end of Nostaligia Jets. Now IF you want to step up to actual jet class racing, without speed limits, talk to the wonderful guy named Jim Coddling in region 10...I'm sure the guys that went to Burley can tell you what a terrific guy he is................Ray, PS89

WTF does Squirtin Thunder have to do with whether or not the Nosties run at Long Beach? He didn't have anything to do with the Nostalgia Endurance or Nostalgia Flat classes. Last time I checked, the Nostalgia Comp Jet class didn't run Long Beach anyhow.
If you want to start a thread about ST, might as well start it over in Bench Racers as that's where it's bound to end up anyhow. No sense dragging the Long Beach event down with whatever issue you're refering to.

maybe ross could chime in here but i was thinking that i read somewhere(can't find where and i did look around for it this morning) that the reason behind not have these classes at longbeach was just simply not enough time in a day to get through all of it. maybe next year the event can be an extra day longer? just a thought. anyway,i hope that all the nosties will run next year. it seems that people are getting off the fence for that class. i've been working morning ,noon, (on the weekends) and night trying to get our boat ready to go do this. long beach will still be cool. i love the fact that it's 6 miles from my house. been thinking about cleaning up the 21' moto home and bringin' it but we'll be there either way. ok, i'm back to work.

My response was about the Nostalgia jet class. (Comp jet is not nostalgia). The jet racers know what issue I refered to, Jim was mentioned because the class would not exist had he not pushed and pulled so hard, for so long, to get boats out to run. Without that effort, on someone's part, the class will die. The other Nosty classes have ran the beach in the past with jets in the endurance heats. Same can be said for Parker. It was only after the big push, by Jim, that Ross agreed to have a Nosty jet class, but he also requires a steady boat count, and that is tough to maintain. This sport is hard on equipment, people move up and away from from jets to props, the overall expense is also a factor in filling a class, event to event. I know a few of the jet guys are close to the beach and it is a shame they can't run their "home" track..............

My understanding about Long Beach was pit space. The time deal could be a factor, but I think it was all about room in the pits. I will defer further comment on this Nostalgia jet class until early next season. That will be when the rubber meets the road, so to speak. I hope I am wrong.......Ray

the jet class is alive and well, the jets have been represented at the last few scsc board meetings even though we knew we were not going to race long beach because of pit space and time as Ray had said.

As I have reiterated to those directly involved in the Nostalgia Classes, this year with the advent of 5 APBA National Classes, 1 U.I.M. World Championship title, an APBA Western Divisional title, it comes down to pit space, or lack thereof at Marine Stadium, not lack of want. The last few years as everything has been growing witht this event, it boiled down to the fact that the stadium has 92 single parking spots and with all the enclosed trailers and racers coming for the World/National/Divisional championships it just would have been trying to stuff 10 lbs in a 5 lb bag. The pits were so congested last year one or two racers missed their qualifiers due to being stuck in traffic. This can't happen. So unfortunately a decision had to be made and it wasn't done without discussion. I would ask that the Nostalgia racers/fans understand that the constraints that the stadium presents.
We look forward to Bakersfield on October 6 & 7 for the SCSC Season Finals where all 3 Nostalgia classes will be racing. I am also working on 2008 race dates so if there is overlap you can all refer back to this thread. The caveat is that the dates are not completely finalized until all contracts are signed.
    SCSC Schedule of Events (Tentative)
March- TBA- Bakersfield - Lake Ming Season Opener (waiting on Kern County)
    (Date requested March 22 & 23, 2008)
    April 12 & 13, 2008- Bluewater Resort & Casino "Spring Classic" - Parker, AZ
    May/June- TBA
    August 2 & 3 (or 16 & 17) - getting finalized with City of Long Beach
    September 27 & 28 or October 4 & 5 (waiting on Kern County)
October 18- BWRC '300' Enduro, Parker, AZ
November 28 & 29- 62nd Annual Thanksgiving Regatta, BWRC- Parker, AZ

Maybe we need to go back to the old days when they pitted and launched off the sand...
I just read in a 74 Boat mag that Long beach (as of then) had a crowd of 12,000 and that was their gate count. I remember those days camping outside the gate.
