bbc timing marks

my friend installed a msd dist. and if he set the tining at 12* its off the balancer marks. and he cannot get it to stop missing. what should we look for?

If you have the light weight springs in it will advance at an idle.

do you know the color codes on the springs? what could cause the missing? thanks

You should have two light silver, two light blue, and two heavy silver springs.Try one light silver and one heavy silver spring with a Blue advance stop bushing.

Make certain that the timing marks are correct first. Then check total advance above 3500rpms and see where the timing is.

Is he running a msd box? If so check the green and purple wires arnt crossed that will cause a miss

why dont you check to see if the wires are in the correct firin' order...or better yet...take it to a mechanic.
