Thread: How Hot?

How hot should a stock 200 XRI run normally, I've read in other post about 140F but I think they were taking about the head temp, I'm not sure if my gauge is at the head or the block.
At 5,000 it's running about 200F, with about 5-7 psi of water pressure...
    Is this right?
    Thanks

You are too hot with too little water pressure. You need a minimum of 10 lbs of pressure. I run 12 - 15 lbs. Be careful or you could be spending $$$$$$$$$$.

I blew mine up this weekend for that exact reason. My water pressure was below 10lbs and motor temp was way too high!!

Off and on for about 30 minutes! Then I finally dropped my bottom left piston. It also destroyed that head!!I'm getting ready to tear it apart in about an hour to see what else I blew up!!

This is way low!Do not run it till you look at your impeller.Your motor will burn if not already.Good luck.

I ran my motor way too high when I first got my jack plate. Less than 5lbs of pressure and it took only a few trips to fry my 200 (I'm surprised it lasted that long). Scored all six cylinders bad (comp. went from 150 psi to about 100 psi), bent a rod, severly damaged the crank and ****ed up the heads. Other than that, the motor was fine! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif
