Thread: Motor mounts with b1 drive?

    Why is it that no one really uses solid plate mounts{rail Kits] with out drives such as b1. Wouldn't it do away with constantly aligning the motor.

    The alignment should not have to constantly be aligned unless something changes like the adjusting nut turning. If the lock tabs are properly used it wont happen.
    Solid mounts are used a lot in HP applications. The rear still uses the bellhousing mounted to the transom plate and then a plate type mount is used for the front. The down side is that if the gimbal housing is ever removed for servicing, it has to go back in the exact location or the solid mounts will have to be modified to get the alignment correct.

    thanks, I have over 700hp and was wondering if my mounts will hold up. So far I don't think the alignment has beout drive style boat and hear alot about alignment.
