Due to a power outage, only one paramedic responded to the call. The house
was very dark so the paramedic asked Kathleen, a 3-yr old girl to hold a
flashlight high over her mommy so he could see while he helped deliver the
    baby.
Very diligently, Kathleen did as she was asked. Heidi pushed and pushed and
after a little while, Connor was born. The paramedic lifted him by his
little feet and spanked him on his bottom. Connor began to cry. The
paramedic then thanked Kathleen for her help and asked the wide-eyed 3-yr
old what she thought about what she had just witnessed.
Kathleen quickly responded, "He shouldn't have crawled in there in the
first place .......smack his ass again!"

About 12 years ago, the girls (10 and 7 yrs old at the time ) asked if they
could come into the delivery room while my son was being born. After talking
about it at length with my wife, we decided that since there wouldn't be any
real pain and screaming, why not? So I told the girls that they could come in
and stand right by mom's head with one on each side of the bed. I even told
them that they could each hold one of mom's hands. The doc was a friend of
mine and he's real cool about pain, after about 2 contractions, he'd put the
epideral (sp?) in and wow no more pain and suffering. Well the moment came, the doc and the 2 nurses are all dressed up and the delivery begins.
It only took a few minutes and it was all over. Now I'm standing right by my wifes head with the video camera and no I did NOT record the delivery itself. But shot a bit of footage of the doctor and the nurses and my mother in law and then the baby after it got cleaned up. But here's the kicker, the 2 little
girls that were told to each hold one of moms hands ended up on their knees
on the floor right next to the docs feet. In other words, they had slowly
slithered down to where they were within about a foot of the pitchers mound so to speak! They had great seats. They thought it was cool!
I kind of thought it was gross! They never seemed to be affected by it so
what the heck. If they're semi mature and stable kids, why not. Besides,
a year later some 300+ lb neighbor who does the midwife thing invited half
of the neighborhood into watch her squeeze off the 8th kid. Couldn't believe that they didn't even have the kids get permission. Here's my take on it:
if men had the babies, every family would have one! Not two.

It might be an effective way to curb teenage pregnancy....me, I might not be so willing to let kids in, but then again, I'm not so sure I want to be there myself....I do know this, I told Chris I'm gonna go out and buy a catchers mit and sit by the door....I got THIS look... :notam:
