I have a hand held and a built in GPS on my boat.. The only issue I have with it and you jet guys will have the same issue (jet boats are quick)is that the GPS cant keep up with the acceleration.. I have to run it out and hold for about 3-5 seconds to get an accurate reading.. the issue with that is once you stop accelerating.. the boat falls on its face (at least with a smaller v bottom jet).. so be carefull
I dont run super fast anymore but I'll bump up to a RPM to check that my slip has not changed.. at 4900 rpm with a 8-10% slip I should be going 100MPH.. Its a good way to keep an eye on consistancy.. and its a great bullshit detector...

Yup, I need to be careful for sure. It can be a bit scary backing off the throttle, but it seems OK while moving along. I'm definately not looking for any more top speed with this hull, but it would be nice to know what it's doing...
