As someone who has been going to watch and participate in the boat races at Long Beach Marine Stadium since the 1960s, just wondering if anyone is planning to hit the races this weekend at the Sprint Nationals? Since this is the only Stadium race of the year, it's well worth attending. Looks like a full field of Cracker Boxes, Super Stocks, and GNs will be on hand plus some top name K-Boats. Racing usually starts about 10am each day -- gates open at 8am. Admission is $15. Pretty cheap entertainment for a full day at the Beach! More info available at www.scscracing.com.

Yep, 3 of us are going. I wish they would not have the PWC races tho, seems to slow things down a bunch. Other then that it's great fun.

For someone who has never been there, Long Beach Marine Stadium can be a little hard to find. Here's my usual route -- south on the 605 Fwy. Just before you get to the 405, take the 7th Street exit. When you're exiting, stay right and take the Studebaker offramp. Hang to the left and make a left turn at Studebaker (going south). Take Studebaker until it dead ends into Westminister Blvd/2nd Street and hang a right. Go through a couple of signals on 2nd Street (pass PCH and the In-N-Out) and you'll go up and over a small bridge. Just past the top of the bridge is a small exit on your right for Appian Way. Take that and hang to the left. At the stop sign, hang a left on Appian Way (now you're close). Go along Appian Way (past several stop signs) for about one-mile -- when you run out of homes on your right side, look for a small access road and turn right, and then right again. You'll drive directly into the Stadium. Parking inside the Stadium is limited so you might have to park on the street outside. The earlier you get there the better chance of not having to make a hike out of it. It's worth the drive -- definitely a good show.
