Thread: New Scoop (Cyclone's Scoop has nothing on this one)

divergent duct is the opposite of a venturi.
Venturi - the cross sectional area gets smaller and the air accelerates - pressure drops.
Divergent - the cross sectional area gets bigger and the air slows down - pressure increases.
That scoop the area inside increases. The air is entering at the same speed and starts to pack because it slows down.
They work best at specific speeds.

Randy, the question is why is your engine out of the boat and back at DNE?? Good question Dave!
    Here's why...

BP is right. I've have the bottom done, but not a race prep, just the area of the hull that touches the water then I'm making a speed pass. Check out www.op6c.com in the jet section there I have a write-up on this process with a ton of photo's of flipping the boat over, etc.
I'm going to try out a scoop just like Cyclones this weekend (right Wrightnow?) and see how it performs. I just put on this one to get the photo!
Wet Dream, I love the ceramic coated headers. Never going to turn blue again, and they cool faster.

The carbon fiber scoops work very well but I am not a big fan of the look of them on a boat. I like the old school look of a fiberglass scoop. I do have scoops but I don`t know how to post pics on ***boat. I like the look of Cyclones scoop alot. Hey John, do you have a guy that also makes the carb trays for your scoop?

Why not just throw a bad-ass velocity stack on it and be done with it?

those harwood prostock scoops look mean. i'd run one of those. Although, that carbon fiber deal would look sweet on a red boat....

My opinion is it is great for a race boat, but I would laugh at it at the river. It just looks too funny for an 80 mph or 90 mph boat. Just my 2 cents
