Thread: Shaft Removal

    I was wondering if there is any quick and easy way to remove / install a new shaft into a 12-JC pump... I have the bowl off, and pressed the impeller off the keyway, but it looks like the whole top half of the pump needs to come out to get to the snap-ring.. is this right?
    Also, what is the easiest way to remove the stainless impeller wear ring on the pump housing?
    The new bowl, shaft, impeller, ultimate wear ring, etc... will be here tomorrow so i got a head start by disassembling my pump...

    Thanks Hal
    I guess that answers my question... the suction piece needs to come out to remove the shaft;
    Its a necessary measure though - the end of the shaft is so worn that you can feel the grooves from the seals in the bowl. Definately the source of my bowl grease leaks.

    If you read thoroughly, the suction piece does NOT have to come out if you pull the motor.
