Thread: Moderators-Who appoints them?

What is the criteria? Who appoints them? I`m sure you have to be a paying member. Does ***boat.net appoint them? Are they family, relatives, friends? Who decides what gets pulled or not?
I do understand that this is a website, not a democracy. But what the hell? I can remember when I was kicked out for stuff that is common place here now.
***boat.net is very active and I like it or I would not visit. But I strongly feel that some moderators are not "equipped" for their position on certain forums. I personnally feel the forums are for discussion good and bad. I also feel that moderators (ones who are good) will have more "hits" if he/she is good. By good I meen letting topics continue as long as not leanning towards "criminal activity". This could also be considerred when someone`s livileyhood is in jeapardy. But none the less still should be allowed open until that time.
With this in mind I feel dave has done a great job as moderator and I still support him as a moderator. Even though as I am a vet. He keeps his forums alive. And that`s why we are all here. There are other forums I just don`t like to visit any more because they are redundant.
Yes, you new this was coming. Bench racers was a great forum when started and from that ONE forum ***boat allowed a spin off of other forums. Bench racers spoke for itself. I started it. It was my crusade. Now there are other forums that no one visits but just to bench race. I gave ***boat the definative phrase.
Moderate this! It`s a damn good thing I can`t post pics!

I'm not sure what the criteria is, but I can tell you the consistancy of the moderations are very different, so I think the 'rules' somewhat are in the hands of each indivdual moderator and the mood they are in that day.
On one of my other chit chat sites the moderators are pretty darn strict and would have closed that thread long before it got to page 2. In fact, it would have been completely deleted.
I enjoy the ability to hear both sides of topics, however, the name calling can sometimes get out of hand and does nothing productive.

As far as the porn goes I think everyone kinda has a different opinion as to what is and isn't.
My opinion (which I've been very vocal about in the past) is if it's legal in Havasu, then it's legal for here. RD Curious if you consider it legal in Havasu, it's legal here...then why did you moderate Miller's post of that girl in the semi-see through bikini? Or were you just messing around with him?

Ax the moderators, such a joke, let us do what we want, we are all grown up's here, its not like we need moderators to keep our virgin eyes off of porn or vulgar words. I see worse things on the sopranos every week or pop up adds when I am cruising the net. There is no need for these guys and I hope you dont take any offense to my opinion but language and smut are still on the boards, moderators or not ...... like I said, we are all grown ups, we can handle anything you can throw at us. I'm probably one of the younger members here at the tender age of 24 and nothing has offended me yet, except racingrascal, but its no secret I am not a fan of his, at all.

Hoss, I'm not a paying member. Heck, my subcription ran out too. (I do need to renew that )
***boat's admin guy asked me if I would do it. I said yes only because I like the v drive forum so much. I didn't want to see it change.
I've deleted a few threads in the past. Now if I have to I'll just lock them.
I only edited 2 posts and both of those were calling people out to fight at CFW. I guess I'm luck to not have the porn troubles in that forum.
What does being a mod get me?? Nothing, It's a thankless position. I only get a hard time (from very few people). That's it man. No tee shirt, no free mag, no free acess to the pay section of the site.
    Do you feel better now?

No, we are not all grown ups. This site is for kids too. More people lurk then you think too. And yes, some tools still post smut on this site. I don't get that when there is so many other sites just for smut. (those sites have much better smut too )
If I got axed from being a mod it would not change my posting one bit. Like I said above, I get nothing out of it.

felt fine to begin with but thanks for looking out for my well being. See, a fellow ***boater looking out for another.
No free t-shirt? No free subscription? Man, that fried my whole damn day.
I was just wondering what or how they came about.
Do you feel that their are too many forums now? I do. Just wondering what others think.

I don't recall the picture. PM it to me.
    RD Bikini
Dave this is a link to the photo I posted in the “Unbelievable Bikini” thread that was moderated. I do not know who removed it because my post and Tobtek’s post were deleted (they both had this picture). I would say that it is less reveling than your signature and it was removed. So therefore I would say that your signature would be deemed as inappropriate.
I don’t really care I am not offended by your signature. But the double standards is a little ridicules.

Do you feel that their are too many forums now? I do. Just wondering what others think. It all happened when the old ***boat guy left and a new guy took over. He's in to the techy stuff as far as the net goes but not a custom "Hot Boater" and was totaly new here.
The place was really out of control and almost got shut down becauses LFP was getting complaints about it. 100% of those complaints were due to PORNO.
He seems to have a life and no way could he read all the posts every night. So he thought is was best to find a few people who have been around awhile and have them as mods in their own sections.
To many forums, Yeah, I don't even go to half of them it seems. But who am I to say what stays or goes. I very rarely go to the bench racers (even though myself, you and schiada96's battle started it ) but you and others seem to like it. So it would be a shame to loose it. I'm sure others feel the same about their fav forum too.
