Thread: The Box Anchor

When I first saw it a few years back at the LA boat show,, like everyone else, it was interesting but we walked away from the booth.
Now we own two of them. One for the campsite, and one for the sandbar.Fantastic product,, the best anchor in my book.
I think their should be a annual boat invention award and the inventor of the box anchor should get it. (The Andy Higgins Award?)
We talked to him (the inventor) at the last boat show and came away with some good stories.
He told us how he stumbeled upon the idea.
Originally, it was just going to be a box that used the beach slide anchor to keep it put. Then came along the teeth, the handle/rope connection ect, and the anchor took on a life it's own without the slide anchor.
He told us it's now made with a one piece Plasma process rather than the 12 piece welded early model.
By the way, if you have an older 12 piece welded box anchor, he'll exchange it for a new one for free.
We asked him about immitators and he said he's been able to control that because he has a retail network flowing and it it's hard for immitators to pierce it. Plus he does occasionally have to write a letter to get knock off makers to stop.
An affiable guy,, he runs the company with his mom.
Money back if you're never happy with the box anchor.
A teriffic gadget,, I'm always amazed when I take it out of the bag and use it.

Not to take anything away from the guy, but his profit margin alone is prize enough!
While the box anchor is physics wonder, that slide anchor spike is a no brainer. But, why the hell didn't I think of it first! burningm
I own one of each and highly recommend them both too.

I just bought one of each and picked it up at their house. They live in Thousand Oaks, CA. Although, he was in Missouri at a boating event of some sort. Great invention.

For those of us (me anyway) who don't know, what's the best way to use the box anchor and slide anchor? Do you use the box at the bow and slide at the stern? Thanks for posting this for me.

He makes three sizes of box anchors. For under 28' boats all you need is the small one.
His slide anchor is the best one on the market, and I suggest the longer one. Spankys in Parker sells his small slide anchor, and a knock off larger rip off version that sucks.
Across the Hwy at Eddies Marine Services, you can buy the longer slide anchor, and box anchors.
You can save a few bucks if you buy it from him personally in Thousand Oaks or at the boat show.
Slide anchor for the stearn, box anchor for the bow for regular river anchoring.
The box anchor has worked for us for all anchoring conditions.
He was a Real Estate agent in Thousand Oaks Calif before he created the Box Anchor.
He sells thousands of them every year.
You need no chain, works on rocks, sand, weeds, mud everyplace and it sets itself. Works just like it claims.
Folds up nicely for stowage. Not as knarly as the picture suggests when folded up,, it slides nicely into its bag.
Ya can't get hurt,, if you don't like it, he'll give you your money back.
