Can I go without an engine water pump with an Alpha 1?
I run it without a thermostate now and I want to know if the pump in the drive unit will push enough water thru the engine without the circulating water pump on the engine... It's a 350 Chevy that rev's out @ 4500 rpm...
I only run the boat in 80ΒΊ water, 100+ degrees on Lake Mead...

    THANKS MUCHO!!!

I think the reason they put water pumps on outdrives is for this very reason.(water pump) If fish could swim without fins then god wasted his time. LDFTRBT

I run my 21' carribean 468 with a alpha 1 without the recirculating pump. I took the thermostat out and put in a gate valve to control the temp. Been runnin it like this for years with no trouble.
