    I agree with FOMOCO. I painted two blocks with car paint and they did not chip and crack.
    It was a bitch getting them clean before painting though.

    OK this isn't that far off subject. Don't laugh but a great high temp paint (comes in black only) that is very cheap (hmmm like me) is the stuff they use to paint BBQ grills with- inside and out. Holds up to the heat and cleans up easy, if it gets really trashed just spray with a little 409, scrub and hose off. Heads, intakes, valve covers, engine compartments on older cars.. Ok no more penny pinchers from me, doesn't quite fit in in the world of 700 horse BB's.
