Thread: New Motor/pump-Guesses on Speed!

Here's the deal! My boat is getting a new motor this winter-a 514 stroker with Edelbrock aluminum heads, tunnel ram with dual 600 Holley 4150 style double pumpers, lunati Hydraulic flat tappet camshaft with 10:1 compression. Boring .030 over. Shooting for 550-600hp hooked to a freshend up Berk JC with split bowl conversion including a droop, shoe & ride plate, brand new A impeller. MPD will be redoing the pump and Bennett will be working his magic on the bottom.
What do you think my goal speed should be with this set up. The boat is a '19 foot Hallett Bubble deck!
I am hoping for a good solid 80-85 mph.

    Trav,
You gotta talk to Stevie B about a different cam and up your expectations out of that mill. I'd jpc your setup to give you an estimate, but the bottom work, ride plate and droop will change your drag coefficient totally fubaring the estimate. I'd say that you'll get to 80 with the 600hp and proper setup. Anything over that is just gravy.
Make sure you have em pre-drill the tunnel ram for the fogger system you'll want to do next winter to keep up with the Joneses.
Either way, you'll deffinitely have one of the nicer pacakges at the CBBB next year.

I would not run that small off carbs on that motor. Run 750dp's. I already made that mistake, got 500rpms when I switched from 600's to 750's. I am running a 460 bored .080 over with 10.8:1 compression. SRP Flattops with Scat H-Beam rods. The heads are c9ve castings w/ 2.19 intake and 1.76 exhaust valves with a little port work. I am running a Comp Cam 300 AR solid roller and its quite usable to ski with. It turns 85mph @ 5700 rpms with an Agressor Mag Bronze B impeller. You should be able to run close to 80 with your set up!
