Anyone know the WOT rpm for a 5.7 350? I'm spinnin' 6,000 rpm at WOT with a 15R17 prop.

usually most 5.7 or 350 max is 5000,try a 23 pitch prop, that should get you with in range, good luck

I would suggest jumping to a 21, not a 23. A 23 is a lot of prop to turn for a 350. Usually, every 2 inches of pitch drops your rpm by about 400. So, an 800 rpm drop would be a 21. (5200rpm) A larger diameter will also reduce the RPMs, so if your boat has a 13.75" on it, and you go to a 14.25, it should put you right around 5000.
There are no definates on which prop will turn 5000 on your boat, no matter what it will be trial and error.

So what do you guys think? Right now I have a 15' diameter 17" pitch. I'm thinking I'll try the 21" pitch first but should I mess with the diameter too, or just the pitch?

going to a 21 will only get ya bout 5100 to 5200 still a little on the high side, gettn ready to run a 23 with my 350, i know several folks runn 24's on a 350 w/alpha's
    Good luck

Hey Stan, any input on the diameter?, or should I stay with the 15"? I'm turning a Volvo Penta 290 with a pretty stock 5.7.
So right now I think I'm looking at a 15/21 and maybe a 15/23 based on what you're saying. I've actually had a couple shops recommend a 19 but they probably want to sell me a couple props huh?

most companys say for every 2 inches is roughly 400 rpm.I was runn a 14 1/4x19 @5300 now it is 4850 with a 14 3/4. i have not try a 15" wheel yet but soon hope to. in your case i would stay with a 15" wheel and change pitch good luck and keep up informed
