We use these alot with our turbo engines, they are expensive but very light weight and sound cool.

I need to quite down my twin turbo BBC - really quite it down. Looking at the 3 1/2" inlet and outlet by 14" long Magnaflow stainless oval racing mufflers.
Has anyone used these with significant HP behind them (boat or car)?
Please tell me they don't sound like a fart can on the back of a CRX.
Do they have a big affect on the higher frequencys and overall noise?

Put some 45 degree extensions on the pipes and get the end of the pipes aiming down so that they're underwater at idle.
On plane they'll be above the water line but still aiming down and it'll be REAL quiet. No muffler restriction at all.

You'll be making a fashion statement too.
Brian - who makes those mufflers? Are they fairly quite??
Unchained - man, I just don't think I can go there; plus still loud when tooling around.
Last season had a great time, only got spanked once (by a very bad OB Hydrostream) but after an hour of running around my head is ringing. Now I want a quite boat that rocks...
Not asking for too much; am I?
We are a dealer for the company that makes them for Burns, they are quite expensive about $250ea but are very light weight. They actually do quite it down a bit. I will look for a video that I have of our blow thru boat with one on it and post the address.
Here is a video clip of the boat running in the driveway.

LOL.... I got quite a kick out of your response. Chuckled for the rest of the day.
Yup, It's not for everyone. In fact........no one......other than me.
Those 2' long can mufflers aren't going to look real sexy either.
Nothing other than open header or whatever you can stuff in the pipe is going to look nice. I just can't bring myself to cram in a muffler and restrict the flow.
I wear ear plugs All the time and my boat is quieter than most.

We put a couple of those on a Blown 1400hp Nash Metropolitan and it quieted it down quite a bit and still sounded amazing after the install.

Unchained,
Have you heard anything about the noise police at Hardy? Every time I have been up there tons of guys are running around with loud pipes, including me with no problems. Hopefully that doesn't change!
Craig
Cole Trickle - Does it have the shorties or the 14".
Brian - Don't think I want to fork over that kind of scratch for mufflers; I do like them however. Several years ago on another project I bought some 304 oval exhaust tube from Burns; those people are expensive....
Where I boat in Fl the fun police are showing up everywhere. The ramp I usually put in at on the St Johns now has noise postings. Even though I still would like it much quieter..
I ordered the magnaflows and some v-band setups just before this post. I'll post pics after install
Thanks
Tom
