Any suggestions on removeing old painted lettering. Bought a boat from a different state, and need to remove registration numbers that were painted on.
    Thank for any replys

What worked well for me was using acetone. Let it stay on the paint just enough to soften it up, then rubbed it off. Followed up with some water to flush the surface. Did this a couple o' times then detailed with some polishing compound and I was good to go. Try the acetone on an inconspicuous place first though to determine compatability of the chemical with your current finish.
