I decided to TEAR IT APART! After the trailer debacle this weekend, I decided it's time to add some HP to this thing. Must be the guy equivelant of chicks going shopping. Anyhow, It's time for the Stealth to go on. I'll be finishing it up Saturday, but I thought I'd clean off the old intake gaskets and take a closer look at the port match. Here's the intake gaskets on the D3's. Not too bad.. It could use some cleanup at the top of the port, but I'll be changing heads, and it's not as bad as it seems (wait for the intake pic)

OK, next is the intake gasket and port alignment. The right side dropped down, but the left side is how the right will align. I could pick up a little cleaning up the intake, but the heads seem to need it more.

Here it is layed in place. Kinda cool....

I figured the Stealth would be around 2 inches higher than the CJ, so when the interior was redone, I had them raise the scoop to compensate. I left about 1" of clearance above the arrester.
The carb may be raised 1/2" soon

The cool part about building the engine in this boat is it's kinda stealth by nature.... it's got a Berk E, so I can't take it REAL far, and it's an open bow, but with the engine cover, nobody can see what it's got. Kinda like getting blown off by a Rambler.
    More this weekend....

Everything I need to fab the stainless fuel lines is coming in today, except..... DAMN! I forgot 1 AN to AN fitting. Come to think of it, the elbows for the water from the intake to the logs could look better. Oh, and I need a new extinguisher. Sure hope Rex Marine gets them out today
Pictures of the SS hardline tomorrow.........
(what the hell was I thinking? I only have 2 weekends to sort this out before FC!)

Good idea. They're going to try to add a new arrester to the order. Of course now I'll have to re-measure to see if I have 1/2" left to raise the carb

Sometimes when you're fabricating, something looks so good in your mind, but then things change. My original plan was to mount the fuel block between the bowls and next to the plenum. Looked great, too. However, I learned a LONG time ago, you ALWAYS double and even triple check fit before you make the next bend. In this case, things changed when I checked the clearance with the engine cover down. Hmmmmm, the first configuation hit the cover, and there was no way the gauge would mount to the block, it's just too tight in there. I spent the next hour staring at the engine trying to find the combination. Finally it came to me.....

This sucker will flow like a mutha... a LOT more than this combination will ever use. Now granted, it's not very pretty (I used to plumb streetrods and show cars in the 80s and 90s), but this is for function, not form. The next shot will show how tight it is with the engine cover down.

I'll probably be redoing all this when I design a custom billet block, but for now, this'll have to do.

Lookin good roost, just get that thing ready, only two weeks left. But then who am I to talk, I still don't have my pump back, the engine is sitting on the garage floor, and I need to weld some new tubing on my trailer.

Just to show how dedicated I am, I am sacrificing 4 days for testing at BHC the week before FC. I will be going to the river house all by myself just to get it sorted out. This is at the risk of great peril and personal injury.
    Time to get on it!

Since the subject of flame arrestors came up are there any opinions on the K&N vs some of the others in the Rev Marine catalog.

This morning went well. I got the manifold on, everything hooked up and I fired it. Other than the normal Holley fuel leaks, ino problems. It sounds healthy and crisp. With it on the hose, I rapped it a couple times. I realized something that's kind of a pisser. I checked the tach to make sure it has been set on 8 cyl, and it has. What it ISN'T doing is revving past 3800.... period. That just happens to be what it shows at full throttle on the water. Might explain why it feels so much faster after the carb work and it only picked up 150-200 rpm.
I guess it's time to get a new tach AND buy a GPS.
This is an even BETTER reason to head out next Saturday for 4 days of testing. Anyone gonna be in BHC from the 8th to the 11th?
