Tim, I take it you did not read the threads completely bashing Carlisle for mishaps and blowouts occuring on trailers equipped with them. I've read these things are blowing 3 out of 4 tires at once, with tandems. Although it sounds as if this is happeneing on some very hot desert roads, I think I would be a little cautious. I'll see if I can post those threads.

Here ya go. I'm not trying to sway your decision, but these tires are notorious for causing bad days. Here are 4 to get you started, there are 32 in all. I would hate to hear about you having a bad experience about the tires under the trailer.

Had an interesting conversation with a tire shop today on this issue.
Three weeks ago I went brain dead in town and caught a curb with my trailer tire. Noticed this weekend it was down to about 20 psi so I'm having it replaced. Has a nice cut & slow leak in the sidewall. No reason to take a chance.
Anyway, my tire guy couldn't get me the same tire make/model so we were talking about tire options in general. I asked him about radials vs. bias. He's 100% in favor of 6 or 8 ply bias tires for trailer applications. He claims they're stronger and can handle higher loadings than radials. Says he's offered several customers full replacement garauntee on their travel trailers if they're not happy with the bias plys and has never gotten a single complaint. The part that really got me was when he said the bias ply flex less and build less heat.
Now, having said all that, I tend to think on our boats which aren't very heavy, radials are the way to go. I need to find good info to read.
Just telling you what I heard. . .
