The carb should have around 7-8 lbs max. Anything above that should have a regulator. There are lots of threads here on the regulator subject. Do some searches.
I just installed a new Holley Marine Mechanical Fuel Pump on a relatively stock Hardin Marine 454 330 HP running an Edelbrock (#1410) 750 CFM Marine carb. There are no specÂ’s stating what fuel pressure this pump puts out, just gallons per minute. The question is do I need to run a Fuel Pressure Regulator? What fuel pressure should or does this motor need?

I have a mallory series 110 (pn# 4110). This is a pretty expensive pump from what i've seen in the catalogs. It looks like it will deliver 7PSI MAX and is a high volume pump. With this pump do i need to run a regulator? It doesnt seam like i would. Also i'm pretty sure it will be fine but would this pump feed dual 660's with out a problem? I dont see any it wouldnt with the amount of flow it will deliver.
The 4110 does not normally require a regulator.
Rex: whats your opinion/experience with the pump? I hear it's a really good pump, probably overkill for my app.
Shaun... You are always better to have a little more pump than what you need. But if you went with something that wasn't enough you would end up with a lean condition that would waste what you have just done.
the Mallorys have been excellent pumps for us. As with any fuel system check your pressure to make sure it's adequate at WOT. Don't assume. Lot's of varibles.
I run Mallorys on my own stuff and they've worked well.
shaun , read my post in topic "mounting an electric fuel pump"
