adjusting timing on a ford 460?

What direction do I need to turn the dist. to advance the timing? (clockwise or counter clockwise)

Just a dumb Question! What should timing be on my 460 the engine builder says 20 dogrees at full advance. DAN

I am running at 32, with 10.3:1 compresson on pump gas and on small chamber heads.
On the other hand, Lakes Only is at 40 with about the same comp on 100 oct, (i think) with large chamber heads.
I would try around 32, my boat loves is, she dont like any more though. Keep an eye on the plugs. They did let me now when it was too much.

hi, maybe you guys can help.
I'm just ready to fire up my 460, I know how to drop a dist into a car and set the timing with a light and all. But the prob' with this setup is there is no pointer to the marks on the damper. I made a mark on the timing cover where the damper timing mark says 0 and the no 1 cylinder is at tdc( best i can tell)
the dist is a pertonix marine w/ mec adv.
any ideas? thanks, Padraic

blownfear if your motor is blown then i would keep it were it is advancing it might have some issues just a thought

no its not blown yet but maybee some day . thanks though hack job. the wife will only lit me buy one blower at a time, thought the truck would be a little funner. DAN
