    84 228 merc. (305 cheby) I/O max rpm 42-4600.
What do you think optimum cruies r's should be. I heard about 75% of max. I cruise for miles at times. 3 grand sounds good but have had people say it I should, with my set up, be at 3500. I dont want to wear it out. Trust me, I test the rods enough in this thing.

I like 3 g...there's also fuel consumption. The faster you run it the more the engine approaches 100% capacity...things usually break at higher output than lower.
Unless you've got mail to deliver take it easy and enjoy the scenery...

I take it easy for the most part. Its an 84 Chris Craft that I have completely restored and I am very proud of it. Its a looker. All my buddys haul ass everyhwere they go, Not me I'mnot gonna beat up everybody in the boat trying to be the first. I have gone 50 miles without stopping before. It was an awesome ride. I put 125 miles, GPS, on it that day. I think it does good for a carbed motor. 3 grand cruising I can get 4 MPG
