Must be a ***boat curse. I get home from being gone this weekend and the damn heat/ac wont even turn on... any hvac guys up here in sac??? its cold here
Yep bad design ... the metal rods above the burners break , after years of service , then fall out of the furnace and presto your attic is on fire
Mine is a Premier too and on the list. foooooooooooooock . I sent you a PM...
With a furnace of that age, you need a mirror and flashlight and look for cracks in the heat exchanger. You have to pull the burners to get to the heat exchanger, so take a 5 gallon bucket with you so you can dump the crap from the burners and hit them with a wire brush. If you find cracks, unplug it and get a new one ASAP, you'll go to bed and never wake up. Your coil might be dirty and the squirrel cage (fan) might be dirty, that may decrease the airlow and the furnace will overheat and shut itself down too. You can remove the fan and use an air compressor to clean the blades.
You said your filter was clean, so I'd also check the roof vent and make sure it is on properly and clean. If it's not venting properly, it will also shut it down.
those are a few things you can do real quick to check before calling a tech out.
