SB, I think what HackJob was trying to say is that a typical 10 quart Jet Boat pan will be the same depth its entire length. Many Automotive high volume pans have deeper than stock sump. This will not work! Wont fit in the boat. Some pans are also available with a wider than stock, but stock depth, sump area. As long as there is clearance, these will also work.
An important note for anyone buying a used oil pan: V-drive pans will typically not be correct for use in a jet. Most will have trap doors that swing the wrong way since they are designed for flywheel-forward installation. Check that used pan carefully!
One final thought. Inspite of the high initial price, they are worth every penny. If you have already invested thousands in your engine, what is a couple hundred more for a little added protection?

Hell, a drunk three fingered monkey with a wire feed could make one of those easy!! It just looks like a stock pan with a box welded on the bottom of it. I've got an extra 460 laying around and I think I'll try and make one this weekend.

Here is a place for new ones http://www.dooleyenterprises.com/
Also, in Hallet19's defense, this is the "Jet Talk" area and it was kinda created to talk smack and bust balls. In the future your questions may be taken more seriously in the "Jet Tech" area.....well, maybe not?
