i am buying one,and dont want to pay to much.
You didn't say "shortblock or longblock". The damaged bare block would be no bargain. Calculate the cost of all the machining (add align hone),new crank$haft, flywheel-balancer, cam-lifter$, rod$-piston$, cylinder head$, etc. It probably goes above the cost for a complete engine. I want one too, but I'd hold out for at least a shortblock!
i was going to buy a rotating assembly kit from eagle for it anyways.i think i am going 540 with this block.
If the sleeve fails with all that in it what do you lose compared to what you saved? I have had good luck with sleeves in lower H-P apps but the 540 is side loading the cylinder walls pretty good and then the cylinder loading pushing a boat. Not worth it in my opinion.
We sleeve them all of the time, no problem. Its not the sleeve, it is usually the installer thats the problem. Call me for details, we are in the west Phoenix/Avondale area. TIMM 623-877-8553
